UNIQLO, the Football Association of Singapore (FAS), and
the Japan Football Association (JFA) today announce JFA+FAS UNIQLO Football Kids, the first UNIQLO Football Kids tournament to take place outside of Japan, on October 12 at Jalan Besar Stadium in Singapore.
As part of its community outreach activities in Singapore, UNIQLO partners with the FAS and the JFA to sponsor this tournament for pre-school children under six years old.
This event aims to promote physical activity and teamwork among children from young. Known as “UNIQLO Soccer Kids” in Japan, UNIQLO and the JFA have organised and hosted a number of soccer tournaments across Japan annually since 2003. This event has attracted over 17 million people in total, with approximately 2 million people taking
part or watching in 2014 alone, at 14 venues – where six of which were large-scale or major national stadiums.
Mr. Naoki OTOMA, UNIQLO CEO for Asia Pacific, who will attend the tournament, said, “The FAS has a strong relationship with the JFA, and Singapore is an important market for UNIQLO. It made good sense for the first tournament outside of Japan to take place here. Soccer is extremely popular in Japan, and UNIQLO Soccer Kids aims to promote
a love of the game – part of our efforts to really connect with local communities in Singapore.”
As the event sponsor, UNIQLO aims to exemplify its LifeWear philosophy, by displaying how its casual wear is also suitable for physical activities as well.

Date: 12 October 2014, 4.00pm (in the event of stormy weather, the event shall be postponed)
