The Football Association of Singapore (FAS) is pleased to announce the squad list of the Singapore Under-18 team that will be representing Singapore in the 2014 AFC U-19 Championship Qualifiers. The tournament will run from 8 to 12 October 2013 in Bangkok, Thailand. The team is in Group H, together with Thailand, North Korea and Brunei. There are a total of 40 nations divided into 9 groups participating in this tournament. The 9 group winners and best 6 second placed teams from all groups will qualify for the finals to be played in Myanmar next year. Singapore will play their first match against Thailand on Thursday, 8 October 2013.
Head Coach Dejan Gluscevic said: “The team’s recent participation in the AFF U19 Championship has provided good preparation ahead of this tournament. I am certain the team will put in their best effort to ensure that they qualify for next year’s Championships in Myanmar. These players will one day represent Singapore at the senior level, and it is thus important to ensure that they receive the necessary international exposure at the youth level. Youth development is a continuous on-going process and we have to ensure that our players are regularly exposed to strong opponents, so that they will be able to play at their most optimum level. The players are excited to play against their international counterparts and we look forward to the support of all fans.”
The team will depart on Sunday, 6th October 2013 at 12.25 pm via TG 404 from Terminal 1. We wish the team all the best for the championship qualifiers!
