The recent positive performances put in by the Lions in the FIFA World Cup Qualifying Round has granted them a 5 positions leap to 157th placing on the latest FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking. Indeed a very encouraging news for the new Japanese head coach Tatsuma Yoshida who seems to be leading Singapore to a “new” era.
For the rest of the Southeast Asian teams, Vietnam is leading the pack despite dropping 2 positions from the last ranking. Thailand follow closely behind in the second position while Philippines sit in the third. Biggest drop noticed has to be Myanmar (-10) and Indonesia (-7).
Not much of a big change on the top Asian side as power house Iran continue to lead AFC with Japan and Korea Republic coming in the second and third respectively. Australia occupying in the fourth position.
In overall world ranking, Belgium remain in the first position while France overtook Brazil to be in the second. Brazil in third.
