Japan International striker Shinji Okazaki who has won the Premier League title with Leicester City and LaLiga 2 title with SD Huesca, is not considering any move away from the top league in Europe just yet.
The 34 year old who has 119 caps (and counting) for Japan attended a virtual Question & Answer organized by LaLiga on Thursday evening, joined in by nearly 30 international media from all over the world.
When Junpiter Futbol ask the 2016 AFC International Footballer of the Year Award winner on how he feels about his career and achievement thus far, Shinji shared his thought.
“Looking back at my career thus far, I am very grateful and happy to have won the Premiership title and the LaLiga second division title with Leicester City and Huesca respectively. I also had a few great seasons playing in the Bundesliga. Honestly, there were some fun memories and I am honoured to part of the teams that I have played for. Then again, I don’t look back at what I could have done better or ‘I could have done that’. I move on and better myself.
However, underneath all those little achievements, I did have many challenges playing in different environment and adapting to different cultures. Over the years, I think I have come out stronger and more committed. I started to value and appreciate what I have worked hard for.
So for now, what I am focusing on is the mental strength that me and my team will need to have to continue with our battle on the relegation. That’s my focus point for now,” commented Shinji.
Before we ended the quick chat with Shinji, we asked if he will ever consider ending his career back in J.League where he first started off? The Huesca striker did not hesitate.
“My dream is to keep playing at the highest level in Europe. J.League was where I was nurtured and where I came from. So if I will finish my career back in J.League…? Well, there’s a possibility I might do it, But for now, I have not think of that yet.”
