Unity and strength; that was the message from the football community on Saturday as they formed a giant formation of the ‘OUR S.League’ logo on Saturday afternoon at the Jalan Besar Stadium as one big S.League family.
Taking their spot in the formation included the S.League club chairmen, players and officials, fans and the boys from the Centres of Excellence. Also present to be part of this symbolic and eye-catching piece were Football Association of Singapore (FAS) Advisor, Associate Professor Ho Peng Kee, FAS General Secretary Mr Winston Lee and S.League CEO Mr Lim Chin.
Standing in their designated spot, and at the cue from S.League Director of Operations Mr Kok Wai Leong, a camera drone was lifted up to the air to capture the formation and memorable moments on video.
Many new measures will be rolled out to enhance the match day experience for the fans. Some of these new initiatives included a clapper at every S.League match, which will feature a full team line up with photographs, match statistics and the match day preview. Fans will also be entertained during half time intervals by live performances at selected matches.
As a reward to the loyal fans, S.League partnered with several merchants to supply free finger food to the first 500 fans present at the stadium. The variety of foods to be given out on selected matches included Dunkin Donuts, CAMEL brand mix snacks, Nestle ice-cream and POLAR chicken curry puff.
And coupled with the above there will be photo opportunities between the mascots and fans too.
For a taste of what the new season will bring on and off the pitch, fans can soak in the new initiatives when Tampines Rovers take on Home United in the S.League season opener which also serves as the Great Eastern Charity Shield on 21 February, 7.30pm at the Jalan Besar Stadium.
S.League CEO, Mr Lim Chin said after the event: “ The 2014 S.League season promises to be a whole new experience for the fans, not just in terms of footballing action but also in terms of match-day experience. We are delighted to have the support of our Marketing partners who have come forward and contribute to our new initiatives to enhance match-day experience. I would also like to thank all our S.League Club chairmen, players and officials for all the hard work they have put in to make this collaboration and today’s event a great success. I look forward to more fans coming to the stadiums to watch our S.League matches for the upcoming season, beginning this Friday at the Great Eastern Charity Shield!”
