Half an hour more, the clock would strike twelve. I am anticipating a grand arrival of former Leeds, Roma, Internazionale & French International, Olivier Dacourt, at Offside Futsal, but not knowing how he would react to my interview after a superb long day. A moody face with a “do-not-disturb” attitude or a Mr. Smiley professional?
The title of my write-up is the answer.
Despite rushing back to Offside Futsal after a last minute meeting arrangement at Johor Bahru, Malaysia, Dacourt was a true professional who rubbed his fatigue off his eyes, and shook every single guest’s hand who were waiting for his appearance. With the great hospitality provided by the venue, and complimented by the appearance of the former French International, everyone had a great time.
However, for sure, Dacourt was aware these were not the main agendas. Having just finished a charity game together with Zinedine Zidane at South Africa days earlier, he was here in Singapore to hold a futbol clinic. On top of that, we understood Dacourt also held a futbol session with one of the Homes for the underprivileged kids too.
“Offside Futsal focuses a lot on Community Social Responsibility (CSR). We all know Dacourt is always doing his best for the underprivileged worldwide and that’s the reason why both of us work together. To the best of Offside Futsal’s capability, we want to be pro-active in contributing to Singapore’s futbol development”, said Offside Futsal’s Business Development Director, Derek Cheong.
Well, many futbol lovers surely benefited from Dacourt’s visit to Singapore. Just by interacting with him, one will be enlightened. Offside Futsal has taken the very first step and initiative to invite such an inspiring player to share his futbol and experience, hopefully more of such players could grace our small red dot to share their experience too!
Exclusive interview with Olivier Dacourt coming soon at JPF TALK. Stay tune…
