Apart from attending an Indonesia Super League (ISL) game in Bandung where one of the most decorated clubs, Persib Bandung hosted Mitra Kukar at Si Jalak Harupat Stadium, Junpiter Futbol also embarked on a football-shopping spree in Jakarta to ensure maximum football indulgence in the football crazy country was achieved!
Prior to the trip, our intensive research had identified a few places like Plaza Indonesia & Hotel Indonesia Kempinski where they had big brands like Adidas, Nike, Puma and Reebok. Interestingly, there was an exclusive football shop, Soccer Station at Plaza Indonesia’s Level-4 which seems to be a good shopping place for European football lovers. Unfortunately, the jerseys, boots and merchandises selection were almost similar to what we can get in Singapore.
The one and only unique thing about the shop was a Netherlands’ merchandises corner. They had Oranje scarfs, keychains, supporters’ tops and many more products that we would not usually see in Singapore. So for Netherlands’ supporters, you should pay a visit to this shop. And also, good western food could be found at Level-1, Bistro Baron!
Next, we took a near 30mins (heavy traffic condition) car ride from Plaza Indonesia to a football shop where they were known to carry ISL teams’ jerseys! The name of this football shop is Gibol – Gila Football (crazy football)!
Located at a quiet street of Jalan Panglima Polim V (5), South Jakarta, where the aroma of the dishes from the café next door camouflaged its existence, we had a hard time locating Gibol. Eventually, we had to approach the friendly valet parking attendants at the vicinity for help! The humble football store is located at the ground floor of a two-storey building where a dance studio occupies the room behind them.
What we saw in the small shop was a huge selection of ISL teams as well as Europeans’. The shop was decorated with posters, magazines, flags, stickers and small collectables too. We did notice that most of the items that they were displaying were latest or new merchandises. One good example was an UEFA Champions League Final scarf which Junpiter Futbol representative had gotten from Wembley just two months ago!
Basically, Gibol carries both replica and authentic jerseys of all ISL teams. Not only they have the full range of jerseys, they do original numbering and name printing too! Depending of the brands, their local brands like League or Specs are generally not that expensive. As their business was too overwhelming, we only managed to get hold of just one authentic Persib Bandung jersey with Kenji Adachihara’s printing. All in all, that authentic set only costed 580.000 Indonesian rupiah (approximately S$75). Considered the fact that we were unable to get any ISL jersey in Singapore, let alone with original printing work, the price was reasonable. Lastly, the staff was friendly! Gibol is definitely worth a visit if you are looking for any authentic/replica ISL jerseys with the most reliable service.
