5 days of exciting youth football action finally concluded at the Cage Sports Park under the scorching sun yesterday. This International Youth tournament saw many up and coming young players embraced the tough and competitive environment with pride and determination. And most importantly, great football was displayed to the delights of many supporters who were cheering non-stop at Turf City!
42 teams battled out in the tough weather where the sun and thunderstorm were constantly finding a chance to interrupt the beautiful games. A total of nearly 400 games were played, 263 goals were scored and 500 participants and officials strategizing their teams against their opponents flying in from all over the regions!
Indonesia was the biggest winner in this tournament. Javan Hawk Academy edged out fellow Indonesian rival SSB Bontang in the U-12 Final with a solitary goal to clinch their U-12 title! In the U-13 Final, Javan Hawk Academy was once again on the upper hand where they beat Singapore’s Hong Kah Secondary led by renowned coach Mohamad Zainudeen by 2 goals to nil.
Thailand’s Ascot Football Academy battled hard arch-rival Indonesian’s SSB Bontang in the U-14 Final and finally won the championship for the very first time in their SingaCup participation.
In the other exciting U-15 category, Semen Padang Football Academy from Indonesia defeated Javan Hawk Academy on penalty to register their first ever major victory in SingaCup 2013!
The Indonesian proved to be the strongest contingent in this edition as Sekayu Youth Football Academy beat tournament’s favorite Javan Hawk 2-1 in the Final to lift the highly anticipated U-18 Championship!
For the Girls’ U-18, Australian teams Footskills and Football West showed the spectators what Aussie football was all about in the Final! Eventually, Footskills emerged as the winner when they beat their opponent 2-1 to lift the Cup!
