FC Barcelona’s world renowned premier soccer, FCBEscola has today opened its doors here in Singapore. Embracing the renowned FC Barcelona model, FCBEscola SIngapore will offer a long-term platform for development and training to both Singaporean children and those from the huge foreign community living in the country.
At the official launch today held at the school’s training ground in Saint Patrick’s School along East Coast Road, Xevi Marcè of FCBEscola shared the philosophy and methodology behind the school, “We want to bring the real academy experience from FC Barcelona to Singapore and give the child a chance to love his or her dream. In our training programme, every child will learn the methodology of FC Barcelona and given the opportunity to develop and showcase their ability in a conducive environment.”
FC Barcelona is one of the best clubs in Europe who strongly believes in promoting youth. The club’s La Masia training facility has seen graduates like Lionel Messi, Xavi Hernandez and Cesc Fàbregas take on the footballing world by storm. At FCBEscola Singapore, training sessions will be conducted and supervised by Carles Marinez, Technical Director for FCBEscola Singapore and assisted by local coaches. Apart from learning the basics of football, students will also learn more about the values that represent FC Barcelona – tolerance, respect, solidarity, friendship, fair play, integration, effort and happiness.
Each training session will last for 75 minutes and students will be able to attend two to three lessons per week which includes an internal game every two weeks. FCBEscola aims to duplicate the exact same atmosphere, training facilities and methodology operated and delivered in FC Barcelona to students who sign up to FCBEscola Singapore. In addition, top performers will be sent to play in yearly international FCBEscola Tournament in FC Barcelona against other top graduates from other FCBEscola schools around the world.
“FC Barcelona’s blueprint has always been about the importance of youth and how they develop through the ranks. FCBEscola is that representation of the club’s efforts to spot and develop talent globally,” Martinez said.
Lastly, when Xevi Marcè was asked by Junpiter Futbol if there would be any pressure on FCBEscola Singapore to do better than other established soccer schools in Singapore, he said, “Every soccer school has different training methods and we respect that. We just need some time to show our methodology and most importantly, to show how our kids can be happy with the ball while training with us. There is absolutely no pressure but pleasure.”
FCBEscola Singapore will have room for 250 players aged between 6 and 12. For further information and registration, please visit www.fcbarcelonasg.com.
