SINGACUP welcomes all teams’ officials at the Singapore Indian Association this evening with a briefing as well as a simple but great buffet dinner. Although the heavy rain caused a little delay to some of the teams’ arrival at the Officials Night, the enthusiasm and excitement could still be seen and noticed on every official’s face!
There were easily about 30 officials presented at the Officials Night and many of them were already mingling among themselves even before the briefing started. Junpiter Futbol also made use of this opportunity to speak to some of the coaches and team managers on the competition starting 5 November, Monday.
“It is very hard to get a proper 11-aside game in Thailand for this group of boys, let alone an organized 11-aside football competition. So when we were informed about SINGACUP in Singapore, we joined immediately”, said Hannu Tuukkanen, Sport Manager of Youth Football Home (Phuket) when asked about their participation in SINGACUP.
Australia Football West Tour Director, Rod Bentley, and also Loyola Meralco Sparks’ Coaching Director, Nenita Burgess, agreed with Youth Football Home, cited Singapore’s excellent playing facilities and the appropriate international football exposure as the main reasons why their teams were here. for SINGACUP.
“We used to train at the artificial turf back in Philippines for months so the boys would be able to adapt to the fast pitch. However, the objective of this competition is to give the boys an opportunity to display some positive possession football”, said Nenita Burgess of Loyola Meralco Sparks.
Rod Bentley of Australia Football West echoed in agreement, “The competition grounds which organizer has arranged suites our playing style – fast, swift and neat passing.
