EPL Masters Football Ended In Style

Read Time:2 Minute, 14 Second

The inaugural EPL Masters Football Singapore Cup 2012 ended with a big bang last evening at Singapore Indoor Stadium! After nearly 2 hours 30 minutes of hard and fast football action, EPL All-Stars Team was crowned the Champion!

This is the first time EPL Masters Football is held in Singapore and the response was overwhelming especially with Liverpool’s die-hard-fans’ banners and scarfs almost filling the entire Stadium!

Other than the slight annoying music starting and stopping abruptly, the overall event was a great success. To give all the players the benefit of doubt, football action was not exactly what we were expecting to be extremely skilled or tiki-taka styled, Singapore football fans were still treated to an exciting evening where most of the people like me, were brought back to my younger school days where we would be chasing all the English Premier League action where the likes of Robbie Fowler, Steve McManaman, Stephane Henchoz, Andy Cole, Ronnie Johnsen, just to name a few, mesmerizing the football world with their footwork and goals! By the way, the New Paper was just 40 cents then!

Some of the players such as Andy Cole, Robbie Fowler and Pierre Van Hooijdonk were still the main attractions of the evening. Although most of them are probably 37 years old or more and stamina might not be at anywhere near their peak, their footworks remain deadly!

Not only the players from the West were attracting all the attention, Singapore’s very own Dream Team, Fandi Ahmad, Abbas Saad, V.Sundramoorthy, Aide Iskandar and gang were making the crowd crazy with their non-rusty performance! Especially Fandi Ahmad, the Singapore legend was in top form for the evening scoring a couple of great truly striker-instinct goals despite still nursing a tight muscle strain after the Sultan of Selangor Cup’s (SOS) game last month.

EPL Masters Football has indeed brought a different dimension of football excitement to Singapore for the past few months. To a small country like Singapore, its definitely an once-in-a-life-time opportunity for us to get up close with the EPL players where most of us would only be able to catch them in action in the television! For such a dream come true, I thank the organizers and sponsors who made all these possible. Who knows, this might be the good opportunity for S-League clubs or Lim Chin to get in touch with some of the EPL legends. Some of them might be qualified to manage or coach our clubs!

To sign them as player… erm… lets take this topic off line.
