Represented England in all levels, second-highest goalscorer in English Premier League history with 187 goals, Andrew Cole, or famously known as Andy Cole, was in town for the EPL Masters Football Singapore Cup 2012! What’s his thoughts of playing overseas and his Manchester United’s days? Junpiter Futbol (JPF) shares with you exclusively!
JPF: You have played for many English clubs in your career, were you ever disappointed that you did not ply your trade overseas?
AC: I was lucky enough to play for some great clubs in my carrier, I won a lot of things with United. Was I disappointed to have not played overseas? No not really, the Premier League was definitely the strongest league at the time I was playing.
JPF: During your time with Manchester Utd, who were some of your best buddies?
AC: I like to believe I got on with all my team mates, its always hard to pick someone out and say ‘oh he was my best mate’, when you play as a team you tend to get on well with everyone, you train together, you go out together, so yeah I got on well with everyone.

JPF: You are one of the few players in England to have swept all possible honours in the English game, including the PFA Young Player of the Year award, Premier League and UEFA Champions League title, which accolade is the most memorable one?
AC: I think the Champions League was definitely a highlight, we had a strong team at the time and getting the treble made it that bit more special.

JPF: As a former England international, you are the second-highest goalscorer in Premier League history, scoring a total of 187 Premier League goals, would you be able to share with Singapore’s aspiring footballers, what are the most important thing which a striker has to have to be a top striker like you?
AC: Training is one of the most important factors, all the greatest players of today, your Messi’s and your Ronaldo’s are at the top of their game because they train the hardest. Obviously a game situation is different, but you have to put the time in on training field so it becomes second nature when you’re in a game situation.

JPF: If you have to form a team for EPL Masters Football Singapore Cup for 2013, who would you want to be in your Manchester legend team? And why?
AC: Obviously it would be good to get Dwight (Yorke) down, United have a lot of guys who are eligible for Masters in their current squad. I heard Scholes had agreed to come to the Malaysian one earlier this year before he got the call from Fergie, he would have been a welcome addition. Ronnie Johnsen is in the Man Utd Masters team again with me in Singapore. I’ve played with Ronnie a couple of times in Masters now and he is still solid. I would probably pinch few of the All Stars boys from this year too, they have a strong side, Leboeuf, Chris Sutton and Pierre Van Hooijdonk. Masters is a very different game from your standard 11 a-side though and a lot of the guys in the United squad for the Singapore Cup are lethal at 6 a-side so I should be alright with the team I have already!
